What is an OTT file?
An OTT file is a document template saved in OASIS' OpenDocument standard format and created by word processors included in the OpenOffice and LibreOffice suites. It contains the page layout and default styles for a text document. Users create OTT files to author .ODT documents that have similar appearance and formatting.

Examples of templates saved as OTT files include company letterheads, memo templates, newsletters, cover letters, and business plans. Users may make minor edits to the templates then save them as a more common file type, such as an ODT or .DOCX file.
In Writer, the word processor included in the Apache OpenOffice suite, you can create templates with custom page layouts, fonts, and styles. You can also download templates from the OpenOffice website by selecting and then clicking "Get more templates online...".

How to open an OTT file
You can open an OTT file with various word processors, including OpenOffice Writer (cross-platform), LibreOffice Writer (cross-platform), Planamesa NeOffice (macOS), and Collabora Office (multiplatform).
In all of those applications, you can also convert your OTT file to a DOCX file. However, some formatting may be lost when opening an OTT file in a program other than OpenOffice Writer or LibreOffice Writer.
