What is a WI file?

A WI file is a raster image saved in the Corel Wavelet format. It contains a photo or drawing exported from a Corel image editing application. WI files are compressed using wavelet compression.

CorelDRAW, Photo-Paint, and Photo House allow users to export images as WI files. WI files may contain 8-bit grayscale or 24-bit RGB images. They must be a minimum of 16 pixels in size, and they can be a maximum of 2,048 pixels in size.

NOTE: The WI format replaced the .WVL format.

How to open a WI file

You can open a WI file with CorelDRAW and Corel Photo-Paint, which are included in the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite (Windows).
